Maria Manuela Nogueira obtained her PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology (Oncogenesis option) at the Faculty of Medicine of the Paris XI University in 2000. She worked for two years in publishing in Paris, first as a Leukemia editorial assistant, then as a journals publishing coordinator at Blackwell Publishing Ltd (now Wiley). She then worked for 5 years at Novartis Pharma AG in Basel in knowledge analysis and management. From 2009 to 2015, she was (senior) science officer in biomedical sciences at the European Science Foundation in Strasbourg. She coordinated various European Collaborative Research (EUROCORES) projects and Research Networking Programmes (RNPs), supervised the publication of various science policy reports, was actively involved in peer review activities and was the project manager of a career tracking pilot project. She joined the EISBM in July 2015 as scientific officer.
